INCOSE has just released the Fifth Edition of the SE Handbook.
Keep in mind, the SE Handbook is the basis for the INCOSE SEP Knowledge Exam. Thus, the INCOSE Certification Program Office is going into a transition phase of switching the Exam over to the new Handbook. They wrote a blog post on that very subject last year. It may be slightly confusing when the answer is “It depends” to the legitimate question, “When will INCOSE stop testing based on the INCOSE SE Handbook Fourth Edition?” – However, as a training provider, we have been in discussions with the INCOSE Certification Manager. Our understanding is that you should be able to take the Exam based on version 4 until the end of 2023.
Courtney Wright, Certification Program Manager, answers the question, 'How is the Certification exam affected by the release of the INCOSE Handbook 5th Edition?'
Since the Handbook vs. 5 was just released in July 2023, I’ve been feverishly working on the new course material and hoping to have the new course available in early 2024. It is over a thousand slides, 23 hours of lectures, and a redrawing of the Awesome Chart.
According to the INCOSE Website – Taking the Exam, from August 2023 to July 2024, the exam will be a form of hybrid testing where the content is only the overlap of SEH Fourth Edition and SEH Fifth Edition. So, my older class is still good until July 2024.
My big announcement is that once my new course is available, I will offer previous students the chance to switch to the new class if they haven’t taken the exam yet. No extra charge.
A new adventure awaits us all – I’m plunging in, come join me.
