INCOSE released the Fifth Edition of the SE Handbook back in July 2024.
We took almost a year to develop a whole new course based on this new version.
Keep in mind that the SE Handbook is the basis for the INCOSE SEP Knowledge Exam. Thus, the INCOSE Certification Program Office is going into a transition phase of switching the Exam over to the new Handbook. They wrote a blog post on that very subject last year. It may be slightly confusing when the answer is “It depends” to the legitimate question, “When will INCOSE stop testing based on the INCOSE SE Handbook Fourth Edition?” – However, as a training provider, we have been in discussions with the INCOSE Certification Manager. Our understanding is that you should be able to take the Exam based on version 4 until the end of July 2024.
Since the Handbook vs. 5 was released in July 2023, I’ve been feverishly working on the new course material.
I’M DONE
My first step was to develop my famous BAC—Big Awesome Chart. It was challenging, but I was able to work through the “Traceability mapping” and the “Requirements imposed on enabling systems.”
Next, I created slides for the 5 modules, each split into 2 sub-modules. I went through every page of the book to create the appropriate slides, and over 1000 slides were made.
At the same time, I created questions for each Handbook Section—over 1,200 questions were created, covering the entire INCOSE SE Handbook vs. 5.0.
Videos were culled from two weeks of training over Zoom. Each video is 2 ½ to 3 hours long, totaling over 25 hours of instructional videos.
I also updated the study guide.
All-in-all, it was a long and winding road to get here. Check out my course today.
I also created a new product: INCOSE SEP Exam Preparation Questions Only Course (for SE Handbook vs 5). For those who just want access to the course questions.
A new adventure awaits us all – I’m plunging in, come join me.
